Original question:
I know a lot went into your
weight loss, but if you could send me a
paragraph on how you got there, including your
Curves experience, I'd love it. With your
permission, I'd like to not only put it on our
website, but send it into Curves International.
Are you ok with that? You really look fantastic.
How do you feel?

Kate’s answer:
There were really three
major components to my 'secret' for weight loss.
When I started, I was such
a 'sugar' junkie - often taking up to 6-8
teaspoons of sugar in my morning coffee!
Well, I realized that I
can't just 'diet' any more - I needed to change
my eating lifestyle. Which I did~ immediately
cutting down on the amount of sugar I was eating
- reading food labels, calories per serving size
(not the whole package). I learned how to
measure my food ~ portion control. Which sounded
very limiting to me at first, but I actually got
used to it - in a good way! Another thing I did
was write down what healthy foods I like as far
as fruits, vegetables, lean meats. And use those
foods in my meal plans.
My eating lifestyle change
for the better then was the first component.
The second component was
my Curves workouts - the encouragement received
from the counselors was great - it seemed as
though I received encouragement every time I
came in the door. And if I wasn't doing an
exercise correctly, I was corrected - which was
great because I knew it was for my own good. The
workouts are a quick 30 minutes in and out. So I
could work 8 hrs, workout for 30 minutes and
still have time to enjoy my family in the
evenings.
The third component was my
faith in God. He has helped me so much in my
weight loss journey - providing me the resources
and encouragement to get the job done.

Oh forgot to mention that I
feel GREAT also - more energy ~ ESP. In the
bedroom ;)

| After walking out on an office Christmas dinner because, at 366 pounds, she couldn't fit behind the table, a determined Debbie Bishop-Lane walked into her local Curves, which she had joined a month before. A year later, she was 179 pounds lighter. And as she dressed for that year's Christmas party, her youngest daughter put her arms around her mom, told her how much she loved her, and how beautiful she was. "The overwhelming feeling of achievement was astonishing," Debbie says. "I felt like Cinderella must have felt at her ball." |
